I need you guys to listen so bad, but I’m at least glad people on Twitter are starting to talk about this. The government of Canada is expanding Medically Assisted Death to cull the poor and disabled, and now suicidal and mentally ill (these are usually interchangeable of course here). It is EUGENICS and every single disabled rights organization is against it.

Disability payments are $1,200 a month. The average one bedroom apartment rent in the Greater Toronto Area (greatest pop. area by far here) is $2,000 a month. People with mental illnesses are on months long waitlists to get even a single publicly funded session. Weeks to get privately funded care which costs at least $200 a session. There is no housing here for disabled people. We are in one of the worst housing crises in the world right now.

Doctors are now offering MAiD unprompted to young suicidal people. This woman is 21, a health practitioner literally suggested she kill herself.

This is one of the worst Disability Rights Violations we’ve ever seen in Canada. The government is killing us because it is cheaper than funding healthcare, cheaper than giving people housing and food and basic human rights.

One of the ways the Nazis sold the Aktion T4 programme, which saw disabled, mentally ill, developmentally delayed, blind, and Deaf people, adults and children alike, sterilized at best and outright murdered in a prelude to the death camps in the 1930s was in convincing the German public that there was "life unworthy of life," and that these people were costly, unnecessary burdens on the taxpayers of Germany. Because disabled people couldn't work, so obviously, taxes were paying for them to contribute nothing to society, so it was a far better thing to sterilize the people who could do menial work, to prevent them from passing on their "defective" genes, and for those incapable of work, including infants and children, to be gassed outright. It was only fair, you see. Because they couldn't contribute to society. They were just a drain on the ordinary people who were working to feed and clothe themselves. Why did cripples and lunatics deserve to mooch off of hard-working Germans? Especially during a global depression, when inflation made food and housing impossibly expensive? It was a mercy, you see. They would never have to burden their families with caring for them again. They wouldn't suffer.

Canada is working right out of the Nazi eugenics playbook, down to targeting Indigenous Canadians and other people of colour for state-recommended murder. Because it's far cheaper and far less of a burden on the Canadian taxpayer to just murder disabled people instead of pay for housing, food, and basic needs for survival.

When a government says that paying for disabled and mentally ill people are too expensive to live, then eugenics has won and the only moral option left is to fight back and refuse this deadly, genocidal logic.

Blocking ads is absolutely not stealing. The ads<>content agreement is between content hosting platforms and advertisers. The only role of the viewer in this arrangement is as the product. We are the product being traded, lured by content, not a party involved in the transaction. At no point was our agreement sought or expected.

If viewers are not watching ads and thus the platform is not delivering product to the advertisers, that’s an issue between the platform and the advertisers. Viewers aren’t stealing anything, morally or immorally; we never agreed to any transaction.

It should also be noted that if you have any usage fees or limits on your connection, any ads will directly negatively impact you, either from you getting charged for the data transmitted to show you ads you didn't want, or from them eating up your data allowance, forcing you to restrict voluntary usage to avoid fees.

I setup pi-hole with an old raspberry pi 3B in about an hour and stopped having to explain to my mom not to click on the fucking Roku ads. And malicious software clicks have gone from a dozen a day to 0! It has been amazing! Seriously, if you live with a computer un-savvy person it is a godsend.

As you can see, the myth just started to grow, characters and ships and tropes being added one after the other, almost bizzarely without contradiction, until there was enough of shape to the whole thing for people to start posting fanfic about it on AO3. “No beta we die like ice-pick Joe” is already a tag.

It appears this opened a day after after the meme took off.

Goncharov was first entered into Wikipedia between Day 4 and 5 (attempts to vandalise it with fake info don’t count, incidentally – please knock that shit off) under List of Internet Phenomena. This was then expanded into its own Wikipedia page at the end of Day 5 because, according to the talk history: “the topic now meets the notability threshold for its own artice due to significant coverage in The New York Times and other sources cited.” We’re on Wikipedia, people!

And then we made The Guardian half a day later. So while the meme is definitely dying down to embers by now, it still stays winning.

Billionaire investor Mark Cuban launched an online pharmacy Thursday that offers more than 100 generic drugs at an affordable price with a goal of being “radically transparent” in its price negotiations with drug companies. 

For example, the leukemia drug imatinib is priced at $47 a month on MCCPDC compared to the $9,657 retail price.

The online pharmacy’s prices for generics factor in a 15% margin on top of actual manufacturer prices and a $3 pharmacist fee, the statement said.
